I was closer than close to my maternal grandmother; a matriarch for whom respect, dignity and care were foundational to everything.  She taught me that “people should be judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin” being a living example of the teachings of Martin Luther King Jr.  My grandmother was a social justice activist and advocate who served as the president of the Interracial Council in Jim Crow Florida during the 1950’s and 60’s.  This instilled a deep respect and awe for the wisdom of age and service to elders in communal care as mainstays for life.  

As an adult, I began my career working in hospitality as an award-winning concierge for multiple four-star boutique hotels.  From there, standing on the shoulders of my mother’s impressive career as a consultant, founded a unique woman-owned leadership development firm.  We introduced the mindset and skillsets of breakthrough performance into Fortune 1000 companies and large not-for-profit organizations this profound matriarchal model rooted in service, inclusivity, accountability and integrity for two decades.  

Central to my nearly twenty years of immersive practice as a Dzogchen Tibetan Buddhist is a commitment to being of benefit to all which led to my founding Heart of Service Elder Care.  It is a natural evolution of my life’s work both in hospitality and business to now bring to elders nurturing stimulating environments that are both joyful and easeful.
